Thank you cards from the class of 2013

I am working with a group of parents to put on the 8th grade dance which is next Tuesday. We have a ton of great support from the community, so I thought it would be nice to send the businesses and people who donated time and supplies to our kids a thank you. The theme for the dance is Hawaiian, so I made these thank you cards for us to write to the people we need to thank. They are all basically the same, just different colors because I didn't have enough of one color to do all of the cards.

OK. I need graduation cards and retirement cards, so I tried to come up with something clever and of course, couldn't do it on my own. Then I tried to case Heather's cards and couldn't get them right either. These are the 4 cards I finally came up with. Not as nice as Heather's, but they'll have to work. Graduation is in about an hour....if I can get myself ready to go. I may just take Tyler and drop him off..(he's playing in the Band). Actually I guess that's what I will do....he just told me he has to be ther 45 minutes early.

Gifts for my 5th Graders

Every year I like to do a little something for my kids as I send them on their way to the next grade. I've done the candy bar awards, certificates, little notes, last year I made coaster picture frames for each student with their picture and a class picture. I try to make it neat--yet not cost a fortune. This year I decided to use a poem I found years ago (I don't know who to give credit to, but I didn't write it myself), and do something with it. I racked my brain, searched the internet and finally came up with this idea. They are about 4 inches by 8 inches big. I hope my students like them.

I put these goodies in a plastic bag with this list, so the kids will know why I put each item in the bag. (Don't know who to give credit to here either....but THANKS!!)

1. A rubber band - to help you remain flexible
2. Smarties candies - to remind you how smart you are
3. A lollipop - to keep the child in you alive
4. Hershey kisses - to help you in difficult times
5. A Band-aid - to help you mend yourself or others
6. A pen - to write down all of those great ideas
7. An eraser - to remind you that it’s okay to make mistakes
8. Chewing gum - so that you’ll always stick with it
9. Milky Way bar - to encourage reaching for the stars
10. A penny - for good luck in all you do!

Then I made a topper for each bag with the students' names on them:

This is the poem on the front of the topper:
You're a very special person,
And I wanted you to know,
How much I enjoyed being your teacher.
How fast the year did go!
Please come back to visit me
As through the grades you grow
Try hard to learn all that you can
There is so much to know!
The one thing I tried to teach you
To last your whole life through
Is to know that you are SPECIAL
There's no one else like you!

That's a photo of all of them....I have a big class this year, so it took a while to make all of these, but it's worth it for my kiddos and I think they turned out pretty cute. Yes...I made one for Mrs. Nason too... :o)

Just saying hi!

Hello out there, wish I was doing some stamping, but I am way behind. I got the house kind of clean, the laundry partly finished, and the shopping done, so tomorrow I hope to work on some end of the year projects. I want to make something to give to my students for the end of the year, I have some thank you cards to make, and 3 retirement cards. That's going to be a lot...considering I rarely stamp anymore. School is almost out :o(, so I may have more stmaping time :o). I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Water bottles for the dance

I've been working on the water bottles for the 8th grade dance. Our theme is Hawaiian, so I think these will be perfect. I was stamping hibiscus flowers forever, then remembered I had the roller with Hawaiian flowers, so I switched to it and the stamping went much faster!!! We only have 61 kids, but we are doing at least 2 bottles per kid, plus some for the adults, so I have a lot of water bottles to cover. 7 cases of 24 actually....There are other great parents that are going to help me. :o)

BTW...These go with the leis in my earlier post.

"BY GOLLY I HAVE A BLOG"

My mom has a blog!!! The name of it is BY GOLLY I HAVE A BLOG, which is perfect for her. She has lots of wonderful grandchildren and they call her Golly, so BY GOLLY I HAVE A BLOG is a very clever name for her blog. Check it out!! Give her come love, tell her you've seen her wonderful creations!! I got her into stamping and I must admit, the first few attempts, I thought, Oh my.....but holy cow, she's one of hte best stampers I know now. She makes the most awesome cards, she even has a few people that ask her to make them and buy them from her. Her cards are beautiful, so hop on over to her new blog and check them out.
